This fine bird was part of a display at an Oak Fair in Dorset (see also BARN OWL). I only had a ‘family day out snapping camera’ with me, so the close-ups are a little ‘soft’. Never mind, the feather patterns have come out reasonably well…

We don’t often get game birds right up by the house. Pheasants from time to time, but never before a red-legged partridge. I’ve already noticed many more in the local countryside this year – maybe they are on the increase. This is one of a pair that have been pecking around during the last few days
